http://www.americanphotomag.com/photo-gallery/2014/11/interview-duane-michals-storyteller-retrospective-carnegie-museum?page=11

This article was about an interview of a famous photographer Duane Michals and how he staged pictures in a sequence to a tell a short story. While is pictures were very simple and plain, you could interpret a lot from his work. He did not study photography and just shot Tri-X in the available light that he had. Not trying to advance with the rest of the world with the technology is what makes his work special and different from others. In the article you also learn about it troubles with his parents, military experiences, and how he became famous. His story is interesting because Duane went against the traditions of fine art. What I took from the article the can benefit my final project is that I should be creative with my ideas and be original because if the story is like everyone else's, no one would want to read it or look at my photos.

Photo Journalism Ideas

I am thinking about doing something involving my brothers hockey team at Shippensburg University. This would be a good topic for me to do my project on because i would have easy access to the game before and after. Also, I know a lot about hockey so writing things about the game would be easy for me as well.

This article is about the cumberland valley girls soccer team winning three District-3AAA girls soccer championships three years in a row. The girls most recent win took place at Elizabeth town beating the opposing team 3-0. The article then continues to describe the battle against Spring-ford and last year cv lost 2-1. Recently girls soccer played against Spring-ford again with a tie 0-0.

I really liked the photos that were taken because the photographer captures not only the players but also the opposing team, and fans. There was a lot of variety from action shots to the players celebrating their win at the end of the game. Also, the photographer had shots of many people and just a single person. Just by looking at the pictures made me excited and happy for the team because of their facial expressions while receiving their medals and holding a large trophy. The article was well explained and included not only the score of the event photographed but also scores from previous games and a was very factual.
