Portraiture Shooting Assignment

I learned a lot of important things out of doing this assignment. At first I was not looking forward to doing a portraiture assignment because I thought I would not like working with people to take pictures. It turned out that I actually really enjoyed doing this assignment and I learned that my favorite thing to photograph is people. It was easier for me to work with a person rather than nature. I enjoyed working with the poses, outdoors lighting, backgrounds, and the different props/outfits. I will definitly be photographing people more often.

Jen Baltgalvis
I liked this picture because instead of photographing the face of the baby, they took a different approach at it. They captured the child's feet and I think this picture looks really good.
Teal Photography
This is a really cool portrait shot because the lighting really compliments the dress and the water. Also, it's cool because you don't see a picture like this everyday, so it makes it even more interesting to see a picture like this.

Elaine Gates
This is a cute engagement picture and I like it because the color of her shirt matches the yellow plants and the sun. It was a good time of day that this photo was shot.
Elaine Gates
I find this an interesting senior portrait because I like how it shows
his personality in the photo (he plays football).

Jen Baltgalvis
I love this picture because the colors are very soft and the baby was in a bed outside not in a room so it really grabbed my attention and is a different way of looking at things.

Carisak Photography
This is a really good senior portrait because the girls eyes really stand out and look very pretty. I also get a warm feeling with the use of lighting, white clothing, and bright green and yellow grass.
Carisak Photography
This senior portrait is good because it has a lot of personality. I could assume from this picture that the girl is musical and plays instruments.
Colleen Co
I like this senior portrait because she is in a perfect pose and the lighting looks really good against her face.
Colleen Co
This senior portrait has a lot of personality because i can tell from this photo that he plays basketball and it's good to tell the photo will have meaning to him. It's also cool because it's more of an action shot.
Teal Photography
This is a really good engagement picture and I like how they are centered in the street and there are tall buildings on both sides surrounding them. They really stand out against the bright lighting in between the buildings.

Elaine Gates Recap

I learned a lot of interesting things yesterday when Elaine Gates came to tell us about the portrait unit. Some things I learned is that lighting is that the most important thing while doing portraits. It is important that you chose the right time of day to shoot, usually and hour before sunset, so it compliments the picture. Also you should ask the person you are photographing what they like and dislike about themselves so you can capture only the good things. It is a key thing to not photoshop things you don't have to and if you know you are making a mistake while shooting, fix it then. You should try and choose places that are meaningful to the person so the picture will mean something to them and that it won't just be a "pretty picture".

Final HDR Shots

iso 200 f22,  1/8, 1/40, 1/160
Framing: I took this picture of my best friend Angelia because she is meaningful to me. She used her hands to frame her face. This was the only portrait shot I took and I think that it's my favorite picture because it turned out very good and I wish that I did more HDRs using people.
iso 200 f22, 1/13, 1/50, 1/200
Asymmetrical Balance: I took this photo because one of my moms favorite things to do is to garden and she was very excited that she was able to grow a watermelon this year. This photo shows good asymmetrical balance because there is a lot of objects on the right side then on the left side it's just my driveway and some grass.
iso 400 f22,  1.3, .3, 1/13
Symmetrical Balance: I took this picture because one of my favorite places in my house is my dinning rooms because the windows are very pretty and a lot of light when the sun sets is always coming in through them. This photo shows good symmetrical balance because everything is very even on both sides including the candles on the window seal and the chair is also centered.
iso 200 f22, 1/40, 1/10, .4
Leading Lines: I took this photo because I have been playing soccer since when I was 4 or 5 and I spend a lot of my time playing. It is a little hard to tell, but I chose this picture for leading lines because in the concrete there is a crack that leads up to the soccer ball.
iso 400 f22, 1/10, .4, 1.6
Perspective: I really like this picture because my dog is my favorite thing in the world. I chose this picture as a different perspective because the picture is not straight and I am showing him from the side of the window coming out of the curtains. I thought it would make a good picture because my dog is really wild and the only time he is completely still is when he waits by the window for mom and dad to come home.
iso 200 f22, .14, 1/13, 1/50
Texture: I enjoy this picture because I really like the bright colors and how vivid the sky and grass look. Also, I like how the tree is only in one thirds of the photo. But, this is meaningful to me because I walk down this hill everyday after school when I get off my bus to get to my house. It was hard to involve this picture into this project but I wanted to since I think it turned out nice, so I used it for texture because I think there is cool texture in the trees bark.
