Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized

Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized

There are many valid reasons why marijuana should be legalized in Pennsylvania. There has never been a death from overdose from marijuana and according to www.huffingtonpost.com over 40 percent of Americans have already confessed to smoking. Coffee is more addictive than THC and is safer than any other legalized drugs. This is because it has a very low risk or abuse. A few examples of very famous and successful people are Martha Stuart, Morgan Freeman, and Rush Limbaugh.

Marijuana has many benefits as well. It is a very safe and useful sleep aid. According to www.hightimes.com it could be taxed to support beneficial government programs. This website also says that the legalization of THC would reduce the flow of money from the American economy to international criminal gangs.

Marijuana being illegal is actually very expensive and dangerous too according to www.mjlegal.org. Blacks and hispanics are greatly effected with them being the most arrested racial groups because of the biased and prejudiced against minorities law enforcers. The prohibition of marijuana only makes people want it more and the people will fight until they get what they want. It is obviously clear that the legalization of THC would benefit us so much and would not be harmful.

Valedictory Final

Purple And Yellow

Green And Red

Blue And Orange

For my final project I really wanted to incorporate my dream of becoming an interior designer, therefore I used paint because color scheme is a big part of that. By picking out complementary paint colors, I dripped them onto a canvas and photographed the paints on there own and then with their complementing color. Although I wanted more of a splash in the photographs, I was really pleased with the results that I got. The colors looked nice against the white canvas and in then in photoshop I was able to further bring out the whites, making the paint look like it was almost floating. I liked doing this project and I think that the paints well described the interior design concept.

Valedictory progress check

To further explain my project, I am using small color droplets and pairing them with their complimentary colors, then mixing them together. My reason for doing this is because when I grow older I want to be an interior designer, and when painting walls it's important to know which colors look good together and which don't.

Research:
Complementary colors include purple and yellow, orange and blue, and yellow and red.

Final Shots For Surrealism

For the shots in the studio I tried portraying myself as shy and quite and for the secondary shots that i placed over top the studio shots, I used shots of nature to show that I like to be outside. For example, when I think of the beach I think a bright and happy place to be just like my actual personality people may not know. For heather we portrayed her as a layed back person who enjoys being in nature, which was also shown in the secondary photos. She said that her actual personality is just like what people see her personality as being,Although I struggled figuring out what photos to put where and how to blend them in my photos, I thought the final pieced turned out okay and I liked this abstraction.

Photos for surrealism

Photos that represent me

i chose these photos that represent me because my head is always "in the clouds" and I like to be outside and enjoy nature. These photos are very bright and colorful and I thought they described me well.

Rene Magritte & Surrealism

Surrealism is a 20th-century avant-garde movement in art and literature that sought to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind, for example by the irrational juxtaposition of images. The man wearing a bowler hat in Renes pieces was a motif repeated in many photos, the reason why Magritte used this man was unclear. Some believed it was a portrait of himself. It was important that Rene varied the images of the man in the bowler hat because each painting then told a different story left for the viewer to interpret. Surreal artist create strange worlds with their art expressing imaginative dreams and visions free from conscious rational control. Juxtaposition, altered scale, and language helped Magritte explore Surrealism because the juxtaposition made the art random, the language is left for the viewer to interpret, and altered scale was used to disorient viewers. The reason Rene may have covered the faces of  his works was mostly because of when he was a child his mother committed suicide and when she was recovered her face was covered. Magritte strived for realism and precision in his paintings because it allowed for viewers to focus on the subject of work instead of the techniques used to paint it.

Examples:

in both of these pieces juxtaposition is mainly used, these objects are random and are in areas you usually wouldn't find them. Altered scale is also used because the objects are enlarged and unproportional

Outward vs. Inward

Outward
It may seem, depending on what class I'm in, that I am a little quiet and more kept to myself because I like to concentrate a lot on my schoolwork. When I'm with my friends in school I'm usually smiling a lot and laughing, but other than that i usually have a straight face which could be shown in a photograph for my outward pictures. I think i would like to wear more black and white so the picture is more dark. I also would use less lighting in the studio.
List of words:
-sad
-quiet
-concentrated
-dark

Inward
The real me that people are unaware of is that I'm actually very loud and talkative around friends or people that I am used to talking to. I like to be busy most of the time with friends. This could be represented as a bright image with things in it that would be considered "happy". I would use a lot of lighting for this shot.
List of words:
-Happy
-bright
-smiley
-outgoing

Dada Final

cut copy paste
color blocks
halftone screen
text

Summary
I really liked completing this project in an abstract matter because I personally like to edit my photos more and make them look unrealistic. I like the results from my project, I think that the edits were nice and I spent about a day and a half on each photo. This project ties into different aspects of dada using the cut copy paste, color blocks, ilegible text, and halftone screens. All four of these techniques were used for this project to represent dada.

Questions About Art

A work of art is something that is creative that has meaning to the artist or is appealing to the eye. An artwork provides satisfaction to the maker and should leave the viewer curious about the piece of art such as what is means. People make art to express feeling, emotions, and to tell a story. One can encounter art anywhere and anytime of the day. The role of the artist is to attract the viewers and catch peoples attention.

Moma

Dada was an art movement around 1915 that was anti-war and it came into existence because of the brutality of world war 1. A pioneer of dadaism was marcel duchamp that created readymades; objects that already existed and he would call them art. They change your expectations of art because the readymades make you realize that everyday object can be considered art.
Marcel Duchamps Bicycle wheel

Dada artists embraced chance, accident, and improvisation. They took this approach to critique the systems that shaped society.
Max Ernst The Hat Makes The Man

Dadaists believed that the value of art lay not in the work produced, but in the act of making and collaborating with others to create new visions of the world.

Dadaist used puns and word play, literature and poetry, and turned letters and words into abstract forms so it was illegible.

Social Issue PSA

My social issue is a anti technology ad, not necessarily to not use technology, but more of directed towards teens that over use their phones and are missing the real world around them. I chose this issue because teens, including myself, can feel too attached to their phones and almost like it's impossible to get off them sometimes. I hope my ad results in teens spending less time on their phones and having more real life experiences. My slogan is "don't get too attached", stating the obvious, and the tagline for my poster was "Apples next product" which describes the apple symbol on the teens forehead. By this it shows that teens are consuming too much media. The tagline for my billboard is "Put It Down" which I chose to explain the photo and also to hint at the overconsumption of media. What's unique about my poster is that there is no actual technology in the photo and you have to read the text and process the picture for a moment that it is an anti technology ad. Even though there is a phone in my billboard, the phone is not to be the main focus but it is unique with the use of vines to show attachment. I am very happy with the results for my ad, even though I changed some of my ideas and had to work with some of the cropping, it was cool to make something like this. Some tips I would give to someone that was also doing the assignment is to take your time doing it and really make every aspect as perfect as you can make it. The most challenging thing for me was cropping the billboard because I did not think I would like the picture being cropped since there were more things going on. However, I ended up liking the cropped photo more that the original. I thought I did well on using all the things we have learned in photoshop this year and even in photo one.

advertising shooting assignment

The social issue I am doing my ad on is a anti technology ad. I feel like this is a really interesting shooting assignment because of the wide range of different social issues and you can be personal and creative with your project. The results of my shot were pretty good, however I will be reshooting for my billboard because the idea I wanted to do did not work out and I will be doing something else.

Social Issue Ad Campaign Examples

This ad is to show that we need to conserve our trees and stop deforestation because the air is created by these trees and plants that are being cut down everyday. The way this ad was shot is very eye catching because its a very wide range shot and captures a lot of objects while most are more up close and only show 1 object. It's a very creative photograph the way that the trees look like lungs and the fact that there are many trees missing in the one symbolizing that we will run out of air to breath. I feel very strongly about environmental issues.
This is a texting and driving ad. I like how the photo was shot because it's frozen motion and it is cool how the "blood" was being captured coming out of the phone symbolizing how texting and driving can end your life. This photo is very creative because she is not shown behind the wheel and was created a different way then suspected. I think it's important to advertise texting and driving because a lot of teens and even adults will do this not realizing it's deadly.
This picture advertises how sexual predators are in your child's smartphone. The way this picture was made is very cool the way the hand was photoshopped in her pants and also has her phone. It is very creative and eye catching. Although I can't really relate to the ad, it is very creative.
